Federation for the Front Line

Simple questions deserve answers.

The systems holding those answers don't know each other.

We make them know each other.

ZQL LLC (Switzerland)  ยท  Incorporated in the home of federation, neutrality, and data sovereignty.

The Impossible Questions

Every organisation faces simple questions that are impossible to answer. The answers exist. They're scattered across systems that don't recognise each other.

Why These Questions Are Impossible

The Failed Orthodoxy

Data lakes were sold as a single source of truth. Twenty years and billions of pounds later, frontline workers will tell you what a child could have: the problem was never missing or messy data. It's that systems use different words for the same things โ€” and the same words for different things.

Those Differences Are Signal

When "customer" means different things in sales, support, and product โ€” that's not a data quality problem. That's operational intelligence hiding in plain sight. When "shipped" means three different things in three different systems, all three are true. Destroying that variance destroys meaning.

Federation, Not Centralisation

Instead of moving data into one place, we teach systems to answer questions together.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ

Read-Only

No system gives up control of its data. We query in place. Zero political battles over data ownership.

๐Ÿ’ฌ

Vocabulary-First

We map what words mean in each system. When "shipped" means three different things, we preserve all three.

๐Ÿ‘ค

Frontline-Focused

Answers go to the people who need them โ€” the nurse, the logistics coordinator, the customer service agent.

No AI. No data lakes. Just the truth, good people need to do a good job.

How It Works

1

Question

A frontline worker asks a simple question in natural language

2

Vocabulary

ZQL maps the question to what each system calls things locally

3

Federation

The query fans out to every relevant system simultaneously

4

Revelation

Answers are assembled and returned โ€” often for the first time ever

Example ยท A Global Supply Chain

"Where is order #4721?" โ†’ ZQL queries SAP, DHL tracking, warehouse WMS, and the customer's ERP simultaneously. Sandra in customer service doesn't play detective โ€” she gets everything she needs to complete the case in seconds. No stress. No four phone calls. No burnout from being set up to fail.

Questions We've Answered

Every engagement starts with a question someone needs answered. The question tells us which systems need to learn each other's language.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Supply Chain
"Where's my order?"
A Global supply chain. Cross-system visibility across manufacturer, logistics, warehouse, and customer ERP. From four phone calls to one screen.
SAPDHLWMSCustomer ERP
๐Ÿฅ Healthcare
"Have we a bed?"
NHS cross-trust federation. Real-time bed availability, patient flow, and capacity planning โ€” without centralising patient data.
Manchester RoyalLeeds GeneralBirmingham QE
๐Ÿฆ Financial Services
"Is this the same customer?"
Cross-system entity resolution for AML compliance. When "customer" means different things across divisions, federation reveals the connections regulators need to see.
Core BankingComplianceKYC/AMLCustody
โšก Regulatory Compliance
"Are we DORA-ready?"
Operational resilience testing for 50,000 EU financial entities. Federation maps ICT dependencies across vendors without requiring anyone to surrender their data.
ICT InventoryVendor SystemsRisk Register
๐Ÿ“Š Enterprise IT
"How much am I overspending on IT?"
Cross-vendor spend optimisation. When three divisions buy the same capability from different vendors at different prices, federation reveals the waste.
ProcurementServiceNowVendor Contracts
๐ŸŒ Commercial Operations
"How do I price this in Spain?"
Multi-country pricing logic across SAP and local regulations. When government caps conflict with global strategy, federation finds every edge case before production.
SAPLocal Pricing RulesGovernment Caps
๐Ÿš— Manufacturing
"What's causing the delay?"
Cascade failure detection across multi-plant supply chains. When "downtime" means different things at each plant, the real cause hides between the definitions.

๐Ÿ”’ Cyber Resilience
"What still works if this system fails?"
Non-digital twin operational continuity. Federation maps the actual dependency graph across your organisation, revealing what manual processes survive a system outage.

Not AI. Not Another Data Lake.

You've been here before. We know what you're thinking.

AI / LLMs

Hallucinate answers

No audit trail. EU AI Act liability. Organisations are pausing adoption because they can't explain the output.

ZQL

Returns what systems actually say

Every answer is traceable to its source. No hallucination. Full audit trail. Compliance-ready from day one.

Data Lakes / Warehouses

Twenty years, billions spent

Still can't answer frontline questions. Force harmonisation that destroys meaning and local intelligence.

ZQL

Federates in place

No migration. No harmonisation. Preserves local meaning as intelligence. Deployed in weeks, not years.

Centralised Platforms

Data flows to them

Sovereignty is surrendered. Your data enriches their platform. The answers serve the one who watches, not the one who asks.

ZQL

Data never leaves home

Sovereign parts choosing to answer questions together. No central eye. The answer serves the one who asks.

The answers already exist.
Let's show you.

We'll walk through a question from your organisation and show you what federation reveals. Thirty minutes. No slides.
